Just learned a new technique of transferring images onto the wax. Just need to make a Xerox copy of the image, burnish it onto the wax and then rub off the paper with a wet paper towel. I’ve been using photographs that my husband took, along with a few of my own and incorporating them into my images. This is all new to me so as soon as I have one completed I’ll post it and add it to my website. I’m working on a set now that will incorporate some Atlanta architecture. I’d like to complete a set of art that will work more for corporate settings.
Now if I can only find a Xerox machine………

This past week I had one of my pieces accepted into a juried show at the AAC Gallery, the juror was Chery Baird. Out of over 300 entries about 70 pieces were accepted. My husband had one of his photographs selected as well. It’s amazing how many people don’t know what encaustic is. I find myself expaining the background of the medium and the techniques I use over and over again. I suppose this is a good thing that so many people are intriqued by it and want to know more about it!
This piece of mine can also be seen in an encaustic techniques book coming out in a couple of weeks by Jason McGrady and Donna Thomas. I’ll keep you posted on the details of that!

Today I posed the question to R&F Paints forum, they are a manufacturer of encaustic paints and artists materials, to see what comes back. I’m just wondering what the feeling is out there from other artists regarding the sustainablity of encaustic paintings. With so many products out there now being marketed as “green” I’m just curious as to whether or not this would be advantagous to the art world as well. I’ve also set up a poll on their site as well so I’ll let you how it goes.
